EU Approves Advanta SaleBRUSSELS - Aug 18/04 - SNS -- The European Commission approved the proposed acquisition of Dutch-based seed producer Advanta B.V. by Swiss-based Syngenta Crop Protection AG. Regulatory clearance is conditional on the subsequent divestment of Advanta’s entire European operations to remove concerns about reduced competition in the market for sugar beet seeds among others. Syngenta Crop Protection AG is a subsidiary of Syngenta AG which, like Advanta B.V., is active in the breeding, production, processing and sale of various kinds of seeds.
