South Dakota Counties Designated DisastersWASHINGTON - Aug 12/04 - SNS -- The USDA designated 30 counties in South Dakota primary agricultural disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by spring frost, heat, winds, hail, storms, drought and insect infestation that occurred since the start of the year. Affected counties include: Bennett, Custer, Harding, Lyman, Stanley, Brule, Dewey, Hughes, Meade, Sully, Buffalo, Fall, River, Hyde, Mellette, Todd, Butte, Gregory, Jackson, Pennington, Tripp, Campbell, Haakon, Jones, Perkins, Walworth, Corson, Hand, Lawrence, Shannon, and Ziebach. Also eligible because they are contiguous are Aurora, Beadle, Charles Mix, Edmunds, Faulk, Jerauld, McPherson, Potter and Spink Counties.
