RED RIVER VALLEY---CROP UPDATE---Reports of rain over the weekend of August 6-8 have growers in good spirits. Indications are that the storms were spotty especially in the south end of the valley. Unofficial reports of as much as 2 1/2 inches fell around Grafton, North Dakota. However, sources indicate that even though the crop is in good condition, more rain is needed. Some growers indicate they may kill vines in 7-10 days, with harvest to follow three weeks later. The storms have brought cooler weather with lows in the mid to upper 40s. EASTERN SHORE OF VIRGINIA---Shipments 70-10-36---Movement expected to decrease seasonably. Remaining supplies in too few hands to establish a market. Light shipments will continue until approximately August 15. LAST REPORT. ---POTATOES FOR PROCESSING IDAHO---Open-market trading by processors with growers was inactive.
