Desi Chickpea Markets Strengthen
VANCOUVER - Aug 6/04 - SNS -- North American chickpea markets finished the week's trading on a firm note, with kabulis steady and desi chickpeas stronger.
Exporters report continued enquiry from the Indian subcontinent, which is combining with a smaller desi chickpea crop in western Canada to lift prices on inter-dealer markets.
Processors are also concerned with the damp weather which is being experienced in many locations. Thunder shower activity and other moisture events are creating good conditions for disease problems to develop. This effects both yield and quality prospects.
