Industry Transfixed by Pea Yield PotentialVANCOUVER - Aug 6/04 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading mixed, with nearby markets generally stronger than those for September forward. While harvest activity is underway in the United States, little activity has been reported in Canada and some of the key producing areas may not see general pea harvest activity until the end of August or early September. There is tremendous optimism about yields, with some market participants thinking there is a good chance they could average as high as 2,100 pounds per acre for a potential 3.5 million metric ton (MT) harvest.
