Saskatchewan Special Crop Records ToppleREGINA - Aug 4/04 - SNS -- Saskatchewan's agriculture department expects some specialty crop production records to be broken this year as field pea, lentil and canaryseed crops reach their highest levels on record in the province. Of the remaining three major specialty crops grown in Saskatchewan, the provincial agriculture department said it expects this year's mustard seed harvest to be the second largest on record at 265,000 metric tons (MT); while the province could grow its forth largest sunflowerseed crop at 20,000 MT; and at 50,000 MT, the smallest chickpea crop since the bean established itself as a part of the industry in 1998.
