Imperial Sugar Profit ImprovesNEW YORK - Aug 3/04 - SNS -- Imperial Sugar Company reported net income of $4.3 million or $0.40 per diluted share for the third quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared to $3.6 million or $0.34 per diluted share during the same period last year. For the nine-month period ended June 30, 2004, the Company reported income from continuing operations and net income of $9.5 million or $0.88 per diluted share, compared to a loss from continuing operations of $8.0 million or $0.80 per diluted share for the first nine months of the prior year. Net income, including discontinued operations, was $66.7 million or $6.67 per diluted share in the nine-month period ended June 30, 2003. Income from discontinued operations for the nine-month period of fiscal 2003 was $74.7 million (including the gain on sale of discontinued operations), with no comparable amounts in the current fiscal year.
