Vietnam Remains Cotton BuyerHANOI - Aug 3/04 - SNS -- Efforts by the Vietnamese government to boost cotton production are not having as quick an effect as hoped, with the result the country supplies little of its annual needs from local harvests. Vietnam's domestic cotton consumption is climbing to meet increasing demand from the expanding textile industry. During the 2003-04 marketing year, consumption is estimated at 110,000 MT, up 10% from 2002-03. The cotton demand from the textile industry in the 2004-05 production year is estimated at 125,000 MT.
