Near Record N.A. Pulse HarvestVANCOUVER - Jul 23/04 - SNS -- North America is poised to harvest a near record quantity of pulses this summer, with total output expected to come in around 5.6 million metric tons (MT), compared to the previous record harvest of almost 5.92 million MT in the year 2000 and last year's 4.43 million MT harvest. Total pulse output will also be well above the previous 5-year and 10-year averages of 4.83 million and 4.34 million respectively. While North American dry edible bean production could end up slightly below last year, output of lentils, field peas and chickpeas are on track to exceed last year's harvests by a wide margin.
