India's Summer Pulse Area SlipsNEW DELHI - Jul 9/04 - SNS -- Summer or kharif season seeded area is down from last year, according to the latest information available from India's agriculture department. It estimates seeded area at 1.604 million hectares, down from 1.635 million last year. The kharif season crop normally accounts for 48% of the country's annual pulse area, but only 37% of the total tonnage produced. Winter or rabi season crops account for the balance.
