Walnut Crop Averages 72,304 MT
DELHI - Mar 11/01 - STAT -- Walnut production in the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir averaged 76,304 metric tons (MT) the last four years.
Area under cultivation increased from 40,917 hectares in 1990-91 to 59,428 hectares in 1999-2000, with more growers turning to grafted walnut plants.
Agronomic conditions in the state of Jammu also seem to favor olive production and 206 hectares are now under production.
